The Tallest Man on Earth Live Video
Kristian Matsson is not actually the tallest man on earth, but he is big enough to put on your dashboard and that is where we wanted him by the third song. He tiptoes like a pixie, curled around his guitar as if just hovering for a few moments before heading back to the hills.
Those hills are Swedish, and at 29 he is fit enough to climb. His music is folk rooted, he plays the guitar with charm and precision, his lyrics are witty and there is a quickness about him. His voice is sweet and he has an energy that transmits straight to the audience. ‘You can’t take a bad photo of him’ one male photographer told another in the press tent ‘he’s so good looking’. Clearly there is nothing to stop him from going higher.
He initially recorded an EP on an independent Swedish label, but then recorded two albums, Shallow Grave and The Wild Hunt. Now his third has just been released, There’s No Leaving Now. At the end of his set, far from slinking off stage like some, Matsson came right to the front and blew a passionate kiss, spreading it right around the audience as he gestured towards the far corners of the tent. Swoon. Happily it won’t be long before we see him again, he is touring the UK for a week from the 22nd to the 29th October.
